Unrequited Love Poem by Rose Falcone

Unrequited Love

Rating: 5.0

My heart physically aches
My body, it quakes

Awful loss that I feel
Will my heart ever heal?

Once you were the one
Our lives we’d begun

We then took a turn
After many years you return

The telephone rings
It’s YOU the ring brings

How could you know
You would have me at hello

We planned and we waited
Our love so elated

Discoveries reveal
What we perceive is not real

This unrequited love
One that poets write of

Has failed a second chance
An interrupted dance

Now all has been lost
So great was the cost

I wish I could cry
But my tears have run dry

Love comes and it goes
That’s life I suppose

The couplets are racily rhymed but very readable indeed. Thanks.
