Unrequited Love Poem by Sumaiya Muhammad

'A year of glances, stolen smiles,
My heart beats fast, yet stays worthwhile.
But alas, rejection's bitter taste,
Leaves me wondering, a love unplaced.

Your laughter echoes, a distant sound,
I'm left to ponder, love unbound.
Though rejected, I'll hold on tight,
To memories of you, shining bright.

I envisioned life with him by my side,
A brother's shoulder, a savior's pride.
A warrior's strength, a knight's gentle heart,
Day and night, our love would never depart.

But alas, love fails, and I'm left to grieve,
Tonight, my heart weeps, my dreams bereave.
The fantasy of us, now shattered lies,
Leaves me with tears, and a lonely sigh.
