carry me
brother
carry me to the line
so i may see the holy father divine
tried to dodge the gunfire
while crawling through the barbed wire
tried not to be seen behind enemy lines
tried to pass thier sentrys, and spotlights of evil designs
and when the bullets pierced my back
i knew i had reached the end of my track
but i wouldnt let go, couldnt let go
not until we were safe and away
you and me, brothers even on my last day
but my body wouldnt allow it
mind urged to continue but my body lacked the grit
physical control caved in
and i collapsed on the ground
all that is left is sight and sound
so broken i lay there
willing you to go on, dont stop for me, dont you dare
but you turn back, damn that promise we made eachother
if one should fall the we would carry our brother
we would carry our broken comrade
no matter the damage, no matter how bad
we wouldnt leave the wounded or dead
and you didnt forget what we said
so you carry me
you carry me until i cease to be.
