Until They'Re Home Again Poem by Sean Powers

Until They'Re Home Again

There are those who fight battles at home,
To keep us alive overseas.
There are those who pass judgement on what we have done,
When they themselves are diseased.

There is a boy who will give his life,
In the name of corps and country.
But only those with him, in the darkest of days,
Will remember him faithfully.

There will be a box, beneath a bird,
With a flag to cover it's soul.
To be taken by men, to whatever end,
In the honor and the glory of old.

Only the eyes that have seen such things,
Will gaze unseeing ahead.
To know in their heart, that it could have been anyone,
And wishing it was them instead.

In a far off land, where men and boys,
Fight to whatever end.
There will always be courage, seen and unseen,
Until they're home again.
