Untitled (Listen) - Poem by e.e. wilholt

To the ageless grandfather’s clock
In the dimensionless hallway
As it ticks away wasted seconds

To the deserted city’s tower clock
As it chimes away confused hours
Lost in hopeless wonder

To empty heartbeats
As time silently drifts past you
Listen, now
To the hollow laughter of
Vain souls, to which time
Means nothing

Listen with your mind
And you will know nothing
Listen with your heart
And you will feel nothing
But listen with closed ears
And you will hear
Hopeless sobs of lost souls
trapped in a vacuum of eternity
