Untitled (You And Me) Poem by Aman Mulji

Untitled (You And Me)

Goodwill falls to allow you and I to be,
You are awe-inspiring when stained in my heart,
To treasure such a queen in the midst of my shadows,
Even when the abyss is yawning to keep us apart.
Dreams were born yet bonds burned away,
Why stay and spurn greater heavens awaiting?
Do I (a hell) match obvious places of delight?
Or maybe a pure heart rids off my badness -
Lies that ate through the righteousness, leaves nothing…
But you stayed and I adore you,
I swear as grateful I might be – I wonder why?
Such spiteful stories of a bird from yesterday,
I dream of your wings more I promise,
Because you are the ‘monarch beauty’,
Yet questions arose from the prime of my folly,
Turning a shoulder on a ‘lost’ gem…
Even in the midst of my shadows I changed,
But the sand had poured and my heart pumped nothing,
The hour had passed and my heart pumped nothing,
As I am tormented by darkness in this chasm,
Need I beg for your presence?
I will be great and the blackness will hide –
In a all that is true between me and you,
So I beg you to come hither or I stay lonely,
For I hang on untrust but you are the reality only,
Be with me again, and dreams will be born,
Bonds shan’t be broken but daggers and beyond,
What is a rose without a stem?
What of a warrior without his armor?
What of a scholar without a pen?
What of me without you?
