Usain Bolt Poem by Taofeek Olalekan Ogunperi

Usain Bolt

Call me bird,
You will then know
Of a feathered fly whose fly
Science is yet to measure its swiftness...

Call me lion
And watch the bends and the curves
To see how I de-feat the air
In my sprints and prints...

Call me fire
That burns in veins and
Pieces the earth into green flames
Re-colouring the blues of the sky...

Call me water,
And I will become an erosion
That will have its way long
Before the heaviest of rains arrives...

Call me wind,
To dis-cover the veils in your eyes;
To behold the storm gasping for breath
One thousand miles away from the gathering...

Call me light
Because I de-light all the heaviness
Left in the runs undone, just and far ahead
The chest, the hands, the legs of the forerunners

Call me crust
Because you want to bounce into the magic
That makes trees dissolve into trees
Leaves into leaves, as I ‘m absorbed into the air...
