Utugwang Poem by Ukemiteh Ishi

Utugwang

Utugwang!
I've been long away from you-
Wandering like a fulani cow
When i hear your name
I feel the touch of embrace from afar
When i see you in your rainbow colours
I picture the wonders of the world
I see your children standing tall-
With their blood running in oneness like ekien stream
Their strenght rolled into one ball
Like a dawn rainbow
When i think about you
I gaze your treasure!
Like the golden stone in Ukwortung-
A land poured with milk and honey-
A meadow ready to feed
Through Udama you feed me and the world-
Blessed are you mother Utugwang!
Like dried leaves your foes daily fall
