Values High Poem by tess fielders

Values High

VALUES HIGH

And so I run from trickery
From those who say they’re friends
Yet throw their dignity away
While lost adrift in pain

And then I hear how I’ve been hit
Between the shoulder blades
They never heard the music sweet
Or danced in synergy

My goals and dreams and values high
Are scorned as not for them
‘No-one can meet such fortitude
Amidst the driving rain’

Of course we all will fail and fall
But try we must always
To find congruence in this world
Where faith’s a travesty

And strive for being all we can
When mundane’s all around
To shine when driven to the ground
When dreams are down the drain

Seeing still within a flame
Nothing stills the glow
Innate as breath entwined with life
Pure integrity
