Vase Poem by Jason Cline

Vase

I took the box I hid away
And opened it for you
And in a vase went one by one
My memories held true

All my hopes and all my dreams
All the promises and lies
Things I am and things I love
And things that I despise

Things I thought and things I felt
Things that no one knows
All of me went in this vase
In place of just a rose

Then one day I took a chance
And gave it o'er to you
But as I looked you in the eyes
The vase dropped out of view

The shards of glass could never cut
As deeply as your smile.
I guess I'll just be picking up
The pieces for a while.
