Views Of Egypt Poem by Dave Dunn

Views Of Egypt

I feel the lure of Egypt
The desert and the Nile
All the stunning Pyramids
And statues by the mile

Scuba in the the Red sea
Watch the coloured fish flash by
Shoals of many colours
Will I get there by and by

Well it may be I might never see
Their beauty right up near
But the wonders of these sights
Are shown in images so very clear

On web sites and in books and films
That are ever popular in the west
For many of us believe that in writing
Hieroglyphs are undoubtedly the best

Stunning colour and great artistry
In a style that's quite unique
Gold embellished artefacts
That survived many that did seek

To rob them from so many tombs
Did they sell them just to eat
Or maybe to enjoy luxuries
Or save them working in the heat

How many objects have perished
We can never know for sure
And will there be more discoveries
By those that do still explore

Under many tons of sand and rock
There may be another tomb door
Hiding a lot more history
That will interest millions for sure
