Vishnu
Never did I feel him
As much
I am feeling it now,
Vishnu I came to learn it
Later on
From artistic images,
Figures and figurines,
Hiztorrical and mythical sculptures
Vishnu sitting in the company
Of his consort Lakshmi
Also called Shri, Bhumidevi (Earth)
Reclining on the coils of Shesanaga,
Drifting on the ocean during
Dissolution and reorientation
With a curl of hair hanging on
And a necklace round the neck
One with
The shankha (conch) , chakra (discus) ,
Gada (club) , or padma (lotus)
Into his four hands
But often depcted in black colour
Vishnu
Standing or resting,
On the seshanaga or drifting on the ocean.
