Wait…since When Did We Start Having Ideals? Poem by Samantha Stough

Wait…since When Did We Start Having Ideals?

You use a stereotype as a mask,
But how long will it last
Before it becomes a part of you?
Well, what more is a mere human to do?

Insincerity cannot exist without insecurity
More lies is your first and only remedy
Each paradox envelopes your mind
You want this, But it must be left behind

Don’t you wish all those ridiculous news bulletins would go away?
I don’t think I could stand them for another day
Do we give trust where it is due?
Is it still a lie if it is somewhat true?

Do you want me or the thought of me?
Is it meant to be or made to be?
And you still wonder why you never get
What you want or expect

Well, if I’m ashamed of myself, is it still possible for it to be your fault also?
Now that we arrived here, Where should we go?
And how can there always be a debt to pay?
No one will ever understand why the world works that way

If one obstacle is gone, another must take its place
It would be easier if you could erase every mistake

I like all of the questions and the part in the beginning that makes a good point about stereotypes ;)
