Waiting For A Lifetime Poem by Brittany Keller

Waiting For A Lifetime

I've been waiting a lifetime,
just waiting, for you.
I see you outside the window,
waiting for me to come out.

You say tell me one thing,
you tell me you love me.
You say you want me forever,
as if not to let go.

You sit me down on the bench,
in the gazebo in the wetlands.
You tell me you have to ask something,
you tell me to be prepared.

As my hearts racing,
I look up at the sky.
I see two stars,
looks like two hearts.

He tells me to stay sitting,
for this may be a surprise.
I stay on the bench,
ready for the worst that could happen.

He goes to his jacket,
pulls something out.
He's kneeling on the ground when he asks,
'Will you marry me? '

This has been the moment I've been waiting for a lifetime.
