Waiting For An Eternity Poem by Aparajita Goswami

Waiting For An Eternity

Moonlight shimmered on the blue.
I swam to him
He looked tired-shades under gloomy eyes!
What ails you, I asked.
Love, he sighed.

I swam back to the shore.
Following footprints
I queried his shadow, what heals you?
Silence, it smiled and disappeared.

Torn between the sky and the earth, I wandered for the shine.
Thicket of clouds possessed the Moon!
Suddenly she dropped a tear.
Ripples spread across the ocean.
Wind carried melancholy whine!

On the horizon a yacht tossed away; a sea-gull wheeled ahead on the rolling wave.

Without faltering, in the stalks of rain, the other shadow laid on the sand alone.
