Waiting On Eros Poem by Steven Holmes

Waiting On Eros

In the empty rooms and vacant halls,
Sleep evades the lonely,
Torment of desolation between these walls,
My heart's aching for your warmth only.

Though you're clear I'm not the man you seek,
I will be there to get you on your feet,
Wipe your tears and a kiss on the cheek,
Because without you my angel I am incomplete.

This affliction of the soul I will endure,
And grin through a thinly covered veil,
Your smile is my only cure,
Your touch my holy grail.

So I'll watch as men make their advance,
Maybe someday you'll search my eyes,
Perhaps just through a glance,
You'll see love through my fragile disguise...
