Wake Up Call Poem by Marina L

Wake Up Call

More costly than jewels,
More precious than than gold,
I will solve all your problems,
This is what you are told.
I live all around you, in schools, on the street, at sporting events, just send me a tweet.
I flirt with the rich, I sleep with the poor, I sepatate loved ones, so I CAN RULE.

My power is endless,
The hold is surreal.
You'll never break free.
This problem is REAL.

Just try me a bit, then again, then once more, and now you're mine, no escape, shut the door.
With me in control you'll steal and you'll lie.
You'll do what you have to, just to get high.
You won't be alone, as I'm here with you.
Forget all your friends, you don't need them, it's true!

I take kids from parents and lead them astray.
Say good bye to your life, let ME show you the way.
I will take your money, your health and your mind,
I'll be with you always, don't leave me behind.

You will give up all good in your life;
your passions, your future, people by your side.
I'll take and I'll take, till you have nothing left.
You'll feel empty, confused, no more thoughts in your head.

When I'm finished with you,
you'll be lucky to breathe,
but wanting again to find false peace.

You'll no longer sleep, while lying in bed,
You'll hear the voices inside your head.
When you're broken for good,
then we'll finally part.
Sadly it'll be too late to restart your heart.

You knew this would happen,
Many times you were told,
You ignored all the signs and you let things unfold.

You could have said no, turn to God and grow old.
But now you're missing, gone from this world.

You're lying so still, so pale and cold.
You gave up on life, your loved ones are told.

All they have is their grief,
As you're no longer here,
All are in disbelief,
It is tragic my dear.
You'll never return,
Because you are dead,
Drugs win again...
Nothing more to be said.
