Walking Away - Poem by Tina Martin
My life is so still
I can hear the teardrops hitting my pillow
My heart barely beats
Yet I can feel it falling apart
Piece by piece
You're not understanding
& It's killing me to explain
So why can't I just walk away! ? !
Why do I turn off my phone so that I won't get your call
Then turn it back on just to read your apologies and excuses? ?
Why can't I just say no?
'No, I don't want to hear it! ! '
'NO! I'm done hurting for you! '
I wish I didn't hurt
But even more, I wish I didn't love!
I could easily heal from the pain if I didn't care!
Unfortunately, I can't leave my phone off
& coincidentally, i can't stop the tears.
How do you expect me to live like this?
Just tell me to get away & I promise I'd flee
Of course I'll be sad! I already am!
But I put this on my life, it wouldn't hurt as much as it does now!
Just tell me to get away!
Reject my phone calls& take out your battery!
Tell all your friends how pitiful I am because I won't leave you alone!
Do it just because I can't take this pain any more
And b/c my pillow can't hold anymore teardrops
And b/c my heart is hanging on by its last piece! !
Im begging you, please....
Do it so I can finally just walk away.
