Walking Home Down Victory Road Poem by Justin Gildow

Walking Home Down Victory Road

Walking home down Victory Road
The war is over
The battle has concluded
Many are leaving the battlefields
Some are going home
Including me

Walking home down Victory Road
I can't wait to get home
I can't wait to be home
To see her again
It's been a long while
Perhaps too long
And I can't wait to see
her again

Once I'm home
When I'm home
I'll put away my uniform
I'll put away my gear
I'll put away my weapons

For the time being
I'll continue walking home
Walking home down Victory Road
Time is on my side
And I have no worries now
