Walking In Daddy’s Shoes Poem by Wakefield Mahon

Walking In Daddy’s Shoes

I remember times when I was just a child
A little boy's imagination still untamed and wild
The times I'd sit in daddy's lap and kiss his stubble cheek
He'd catch me doing wrong, I wouldn't sit down for a week

Walking in my daddy's shoes, I wished to be like him
Waiting for the change to make me grow up to begin
I remember in times, before
There was nothing that I wanted more
Than walking in my daddy's shoes

Then I heard stories and knew they were true
A bigger Daddy in the sky watches over me and you
I heard about my Daddy's love. He gave His only Son
And all there is was known by Him before time had begun

Walking in my daddy's shoes, I want to be like Him
It's part up to me, you see, to make the change begin
I want to praise the Father, Lord
There's nothing that I want more
Than walking in my daddy's shoes

Nobody can fill them
No one ever could
If I could grow my feet that big
You bet your boots I would

Walking in my Daddy's shoes
