War Of Attrition(And Votes Don't Count) Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

War Of Attrition(And Votes Don't Count)

who shall rule in coming years
a kingdom gay or one of tears
to exit from this brussels camp
who will be the reigning champ

will she kneel before republican
just another proletarian
once was lord now commoner
stripped of title, crest, honour

thought they were so clever, cool
turns out nothing more than fool
how they wallowed in arrogance
their apathy bred ignorance

president or it be queen
cannot be both nor in between
this lioness does roar and fight
"will not go gently in to the night"

new european monarchy
a bureaucratic royalty
wave goodbye to union jack
once he's gone no going back

sneaky snake do slither so
in your heart serpent does grow
who will win, who shall lose
you can vote but never choose
