Warmth Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

Warmth

Rating: 5.0

Here and now -
night feels so warm
every tree is so dark
I had not known that
truth could be so concentrated!
All the trees are my heart,
their trunks are my spine,
leaves are skin and arteries -
darkness everywhere.
I want this darkness to be,
to enlighten me through
life and legacy.
Night and light are two opposites:
yet moving through the night
I will get a little light that will be my own.
At this hour, none claims this darkness -
the beautiful truth of not being noticed,
yet a passionate existence of my soul.
When light appears -
so many people will run around,
I will then retreat in the corner.
Now and only now, a blanket of darkness
keeps me warm.
