Since God raised man from out the dust
He wanted to be free
To satisfy his wayward lust
Through all his eyes could see
For since the devil sowed his seed
On flesh he comes to call
He knows too well our selfish deeds
Will bring about our fall
Now self must fall must cease to shine
Must hunger thirst and die
We’re not to boast, this life is mine
But His who reigns on high
We ought to wash each other’s feet
As Jesus Christ before
When serving thus, we’ll bring defeat
To Satan and his corps
We know this world has nought to give
We’re wise to Satan’s lie
We know in Christ if man’s to live
All self he must deny
We need to join the One who died
In Christ plant holy seed
Until God’s fruit has multiplied
Till free of Satan’s weed
When more of Christ, we get to know
When self we put aside
God’s glorious Light begins to show
So darkness cannot hide
To be like Christ, must self decrease
The soul will understand
Through love our lives will never cease
As God our Father planned.
