Waves Poem by Amy Serhienko

Waves

I wade into the surf
of this new life,
tentative.

Toes first,
then ankles,
then knee-deep.

Currents swirl around me,
waves building,
then breaking.

Waves of longing,
of desire,
of joy.

Waves of promise,
of anticipation,
of love.

Waves of sweetness,
of excitement,
of truth.

I dive in,
committed now,
and find myself home.
