Waves Of Eastern Time Poem by chris schwartz

Waves Of Eastern Time

Eastern to Central time
Central into The end of
Midwest Daylight savings
Man, it takes its toll
On a Roadie
Just trying to find The Farm.
La Crosse Sunsets
And summertime moons
Turn to Heavy traffic
And Rich perfume
There ain't nothing
about the skylights
That excite me.
Except seeing them
Next to you.

The last four years have
Awakened my past,
Made me realize,
Nothing happy
Is ever meant to last
It's just meant to steer us
Like the captain
On a ship til the forecast says
Stormy seas ahead!

So you jump on the boat
You built from your dreams
As a tiny sailor,
While you're head still screams
"Catch me the Big One! "
Your vessel stays afloat,
but the planks,
They all look the same
Floating 'Cross the ocean
Of your Dreams.
