We Are Like Flowers Poem by Marilyn Lott

We Are Like Flowers

As we age we need more things
To keep us on our toes
We want fewer things, however
Only the "older" generation knows.

We value each day we are here
We treasure those that we love
We get a little closer to God
As we pray to Him up above.

We are sort of like the flowers
At the end of summer, I think
But our value is even greater
Like aged wine we love to drink.

Each day is more important to me
I take time to enjoy all that I do
I'm wondering, my friend
Are later years the same for you?
