It all begins from a tiny mountain stream flowing down from the valley, not knowing of its eventual greatness. It simply follows the course Nature has intended for it.
Other rivers flow into this one. The new river created from this union continues on its way. Over time, other rivers empty into this one, causing it to grow in size and power.
The result of these tiny rivers joining and mixing their individual waters is the mighty Mississippi.
Isn't the same with us? We can start off 'small' and 'insignificant' like a tiny mountain river until others enter our lives and pour their wisdom into us. We merge with them, our ideas mix with theirs to create a new reality, a new truth. We learn from them and want to follow in their footsteps. They join us on our quest for fulfillment, for discovery.
As time goes by, others enter our lives and add to our knowledge. Our knowledge isn't purely our own, but the mixture of many ideas that have been poured into us.
Our mentors who once walked beside us are still with us, but in a different form. Just as the other rivers flowed into the mountain stream to become one river, our mentors eventually blend into us.
We can be like the mighty Mississippi going down's life's path, until at last, we arrive at our destination and delight in our transformation made possible by those who have helped us along the way.
We start out as small and seemingly irrelevant and end up the mighty Mississippi.
