'We Live' Poem by Marty McKenna

'We Live'

we live
in the middle
of an explosion.

a molecule, a quark
in the midst of
a trajectory, exploding.

picture a bomb blast;
we are a minuscule part of that
slowed in its expanding.

the first frozen moment
when you hadn't heard it yet
but were lifted clean over the street.

your god was watching over you
that day. perhaps that's where we are;
in that moment god entered your head
as you were thrown clear on botanic avenue.
