We, The Survivors

We, the survivors
of the ravages of time
illness, loneliness and pain
wonder what's the next outcome

of life's uncertainties
and often in our melancholy and stupor
we watch ourselves as helpless pawns
in a heartless game that fate creates and ask: what's in store?
