We Walk On Poem by Piccola Topo Gigio

We Walk On

After being let down, lied to, and hurt, so many a, & often time,
The pain becomes but a distant thing.
When nothing seems to affect the elephant's skin.
What a prowess it must certainly be,
To look life in the eye; angry.
And yet, still be able to put up, a most magnificent smile.

'The pain becomes a distant thing'. These lines remind me of an Urdu Poet who wrote 'When the pain becomes unbearable, it turns out to be a cure for itself. Thanks.
