Weapon Of Angels Poem by John Dillenger II

Weapon Of Angels

Words fill my head with incoherent thoughts.
What have I said?
Have I learned what's been taught?
Think before you speak,
A strange unreasoned truth,
But I find reason now as I pit nail to tooth.
I claw at the glass sides,
The container of my mind.
So fragile and open,
Yet with no escape to find.
My heart lays below me,
Beating shallow in harsh light.
My words,
An angel's weapon,
Has been this poor girls blight.
I filled her heart with hope,
But it soon gave to despair.
The bridge that I was crossing,
I found in disrepair.
It crumbled from beneath me,
The gap to far to leap.
Now the image,
Her broken heart,
Is all that I can see.
Now the image,
Her broken heart,
My mind has found to keep.
It tortures me at night,
The dark bending to its will.
The grip of sadness holds me tight,
As it struggles,
For the kill.
