Weedhopper Poem by Jan E Smith

Weedhopper

You are my friend, confidant and guide in life.
You've brought me joy in times of strife.

How did it start? When did it begin?
When you called me 'weed-hopper' way back when?

So many years I tried not to feel.
But you saw through me to what was real.

You've seem me at my worst and at my best.
I've put our friendship to many a test.

And when I'm down and feeling blue,
you always know just what to do.

You've taught me how to live again.
Thank God I have you as a friend.

When troubles seem many and I don't want to live,
you straighten me out with the words that you give.

And when I feel ugly, stupid or down,
you pull me out before I drown.

Feelings, thoughts and emotions are hard to share.
People can hurt you when they know that you care.

But you've given me safety whenever we talk,
shared natures beauty on many a walk.

So call me 'weed-hopper', I really don't mind.
For you've been a great teacher, so loving and kind.
