We're Not The Same Poem by Jotaro Kujo

We're Not The Same

Back in the 18's
We colored people
Treated like trash
It came to the point
We became slaves
Most of us died
Being slaves
It wasn't fun
Being forced to do labor
We got whippins'
For every little thing
Like misplacing crops
Or trippin' over a rock
We weren't teached anythin
Like readin or writin
Someday
We wouldn't eat
We felt like dying
It was pure torture
But while this happened
The white were livin' luxury
Controlled us slaves
Lived in actual homes
Eatin' luxurious food
Wearin' new clothes
It bugged us colored
We wanted the same thing,
So we started makin' escapes
Usin' disguises
Then soon
We started this thing
Called the underground railroad
It helped us colored
Escape the torture
And start a new life
In a new world.
