This poem contains so much energy it's almost electric! There is a progression in the three stanzas detailing human emotions in what is obviously not a human world. At least not only human; there are much larger forces at work. The first image is benign: THE MELLOW TURNING OF THE MOON. The second image adds a note of powerful energy being released: THE SPEARS/THROWN BY THE NIGHT STARS. Finally, the impact of the third image is like a sudden assault: THE HARSH PARCHED/CRY OF DESPERATION/OF THE POET SEER. I can understand now why the Poet Seer falls silent at times. His sensibility makes him acutely vulnerable to the burden of being human, with our consciousness of the gap between what we desire and what the world gives.
