What Debbie Said Poem by Randy McClave

What Debbie Said

I divorced a wife, and sadly lost a mother
For needed advice there is now no other,
So, what do I believe, and where do I tread
I now listen, to what another woman has said.

It takes one tear to break a heart
It takes one tear for love to depart,
It takes one tear to bring on dread
Of course, that is what Debbie has said.

It takes one thought to be so true
It takes one thought to say, "I do",
It takes one thought to love and wed
And of course, that is what Debbie said.

It takes one word to invite
It takes one word to engage and incite,
It takes just one word to be led
That is of course, what Debbie has said.

It takes one prayer to say goodbye
It takes one prayer when one does die,
One last prayer then we are dead
And of course, that is what Debbie said.

I will always follow the path of the Lord
And I'll follow him in every way and accord,
Someday together we will share the same bread
And until then I will listen, to what Debbie has said.
