they say whatever doesn't kill you,
only makes you stronger,
now you know, it isn't true,
your heart hurts, and all for her.
rejection's a cruel game to play,
dealt with the swiftest of hands,
without the slightest of delay,
you're on the edge, in the sands.
the thought of her, and the pulses rise,
the hearts beat faster, the eyes dilate,
this once from love, now from surprise,
as that special her, throws you in like bait.
The long walk back to dry land is tough,
Made worser by the request of her, still loved,
Forgiveness? she asks. A joke or a bluff?
But no. Reality. Friendship. Unloved.
