What Happened That Day Poem by MARINA GIPPS

What Happened That Day

Rating: 5.0

When something traced through the sky.
Something inperceptable.
When airwaves broke the stillness
To crackle sadness as we tried to steady
Our inner frequencies.
Where were you when it happened?
They will always say
As if a walk on the moon
Or the day a President had been shot.
And another page of history had been written
Or swept into the gallows of doublespeak.
One day I will wear something to remind me
We should never forget
In the same way that I am
A member of an assemblance of stars
Long burnt out in this ruinous plain.
Fed to me by channels moderated
By wicked homeroom teachers.
What happened that day
Was not a sign from God
But a sign of the devil
Who understood that human beings
Were a vengeful, suspicious species.
Why I am here telling you this
After the military state broke into
Our unsuspecting homes.
