What I Hold Poem by Brian Marion

What I Hold

I hold a piece to a broken heart.

Holding it high, keeping it safe

I'll hold it forever, if that's what it takes.

Though I'm left open, to sticks and stones

I know I'm protected, through every bone.

As I guard it with all my might

I sometimes don't hold it as tight.

Lately I've been wanting to pass it, to someone better

But it's a piece of life, that wouldn't be clever.

Today I felt different, in fact stronger than before

So now I say, without a doubt,

That I'll continue to hold this piece, forever more.
