What If? Poem by Michele C. Messina Long

What If?

... Someone just once,
Said: “no” to some meaningful cause.

... And told you it wasn’t their investment in life,
Then refused to get hooked as in the past.

...They walked on to pursue happiness,
Without the need of “cause.”

… The fighting stopped, Ego’s suspend?
Starting a chain reaction, throwing the world into retrograde.

... What ensued began a new genesis,
Of goodwill to all and peace on earth.
