What If? Poem by Catherine Casey

What If?

What if one day, suppose
I pick the grey socks instead?
Would it lead, events in trail
Somewhere that finds me dead?

If I should pick the blue ones
To suit with matching tie,
I may end up a fishing.
I better take a pie.

If I should pick the green ones
Fluorescent as they come,
I may end up in discotheque.
I best not take my mum.

If I pick the white ones
Just for old time’s sake.
I'll end up playing checkers.
Best grab the window cake.

If I pick the black ones,
(The ones I have the most) .
It may be just a normal day.
Hmm, looks like I’m having toast.
