What Is A Day Poem by Russ Phelps

What Is A Day

Rating: 4.5

What is a day?

Just 24 hours some of us say

As the sun and moon chase each other away

The hands of the clock ticks the minutes away.

But do any of us know

What is a day?

All to often a day moves too fast,

As we hurry around completing our tasks.

So how should we capture the moments that pass?

A lunchtime liason or afternoon tea?

A business appointment or daytime tv?

Finding some time to gaze up and stare,

At the blossom on trees,

Or the fruit that they bare.

Taking a moment, to show, that you care.

An evening meal, and nothing to wear!

But if we just stop, and take time to think

A day doesn't need, to be gone in a blink

So don't regret the day as it passes

But consider the question that each hour asks us,

What is a day?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

An insightful train of thought, well articulated and nicely penned with conviction. Indeed, life must not be hustle and bustle all the time, mankind really needs to take things and situations in stride as we strive in our endeavours for future that'll exceed our past and present. It's a lovely poem. Thanks for sharing Russ. Please read my poem A COLOSSAL MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE.
