What Is Life? Poem by Dennis Ryan

What Is Life?

February 26,2005

- For Kim

"What I feel I can't say,
but my love is there for you any time of day..."
- George Harrison, "What Is Life? "

Few people understand me;
I don't always understand me,
but you seem to.Last night, when you came home,
you stroked my forehead lovingly: once, twice.
That was enough; that was all it took.
Thank you.I love you.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The speaker of the poem notes that life tends to be a mysterious thing, that it is our relationships with others that make us happy and unhappy.He understands that there is nothing profound about the second part of the last sentence, yet some of the mystery and unhappiness is disspelled by little things, like a pat on the back, a loving touch, etc.
