What Is Love Poem by Aaron Simmons

What Is Love

How can the heart endure?
They say that love is the cure
But only if it's absolutely "pure"
So of its existence, how can one be so sure

That this love thang
Ain't just an attempt
At some lame game
To fool the brain into some sort of shame?

It's insane to frame your mind,
To be caught in this endless bind
Of believing in one particular kind
Of some disillusioned type of love you will find.

Honestly, it's quite simple to conceive
That there is a love that one can achieve
If only you'd take the time to believe
That it comes from the Creator that is HE
Of that blessed holy Trinity,

The One…the one that sent His only begotten Son
To die for you and for me
Because our destiny was not free
Our journey to Eternity finally became an entity,

Salvaged by the Son of the Most High
Who sits at His father's right
Continuing the fight for the plight of man
It is THIS love that we finally understand
As we stand with outstretched hands,
Destined to lie at His feet in Promised Land
THAT….That is love.
