What Is Poetry? Poem by W.I. Stoneberger

What Is Poetry?

Rating: 2.5

It is an image:
a snail weaving through the rose trellis
the inside curve of a young thigh
dust settling on the window ledge.

It is a sound:
bird shriek through twilight
dropp drip of kitchen faucet
dog panting in his sleep.

It is an idea:
merging of a man and a woman
love stripped bare
madness as a stepping stone to absolute truth.

It is a meshing of these
and more.
