What Leads To Darkness?

What makes us deaf to Heaven’s word?
What makes our eyes so blind?
What makes us doubt the truth we hear?
And clouds our troubled mind

The things we say the things we do
Walking through darkest night
The devil’s ways we still pursue
Beyond the realms of light

We think to know what life’s about
We travel far and wide
Yet seek the darkest corners out
From God and truth to hide

We need to stop our foolish talk
Renounce our ways of war
Refrain to run and learn to walk
The road God lays before

God bids us turn from deeds of shame
He sees the proud walk tall
Yet disobedience is the name
Through which so many fall

If only we could understand
Could see we have a need
We’d seek for God’s almighty hand
We’d seek His Son to lead

We need to open truth the door
Let wisdom sing it’s song
Set course towards the brightest shore
Revealing all that’s wrong

We all have something wrong within
We fall perfection short
We need to see our lives of sin
And trust in Christ’s report
