What Once Was Poem by Bancroft Boreland

What Once Was

Rating: 4.5

My dearest Amber, I hope you
Read this before you throw it away
I know thou art angry at me
For the wrongs I did
Though you may never forget
My love, I beg thou to forgive
She is but a teardrop, you are a sea
She shall never be what thou art to me
She is only a memory that
I do not wish to remember
Amber, you are my soulmate forever

But thou has forsaken me
And I long to be by thy side
My head rests on a pillow
Instead of on your heart
I am as a word-less song, a severed part
Life minus you is a thought so terrifying
That I dare not speak of
You are a miracle I am
So desperately in need of

My dearest, come back to me
Because life offers no comfort
It is as a prison
From which I long to get out
Amber! Amber! Can thou not see
That I am nothing without thee?
Forgive me
And let us recreate what once was
Come back to me my love
So that we may give breathe
To our love that once was...
