What Remains Concealed Poem by Laura Jane Wilson

What Remains Concealed

My heart lies shattered
upon a bloodied sheet
Abandoned,
but for all to see.
I search
I search
and stare across
the vacant lot
until my eyes
are caught
and she is staring
back at me.
No words
but a lifetime is told,
her eyes start to lose focus
and I am drawn back
to the blood-soaked cloth
to its remains,
and to what remains concealed.
