What We Seek Poem by Aidan Clevinger

What We Seek

Some search for hope among the stars,
Some look for love in magazines.
Some look for asnwers in measures and bars,
Some see meaning in material things.
And still others see it in sleep.

Some think what they seek is learning,
Some seek to end toil and strife.
But not a one can quench the yearning,
We search for the meaning in life,
The need in our natures runs deep.

But what is the answer to the questions we ask?
What finding the accomplishment of our task?
Through how many obstacles must we trod?

The search for truth must not be forsaken
We must finding the meaning that from us was taken
And that meaning in all is God.

Whether young or old, free or sold,
It is Christ who makes all children whole.

God is what we seek.
