When All Else Fails - Poem by Jacque Gunter

You gave me strength to take on a country
You gave me the power to be able to stand
You gave me love I would only find in my mommy
You gave me knowledge to trust no man

When all else fails I run to you for support

You helped me see the difference between the truth and a lie
You helped me through my first relationship
You helped me to open my wings so I could fly
You helped me come to reality and get a grip

When all else fails I depend on you for love

You showed me right from wrong
You showed me love is not always bliss
You showed me it's ok for me to sing my own song
You showed me that if I left I would be greatly missed

When all else fails you remain strong through all the pain

You taught me to never give up and give in
You taught me to know my place in the world
You taught me to always speak my mind
You taught me sometimes it's fine to be a bad girl

When all else fails you were both my mom and my dad

You always knew I would succeed at goals I set
You always knew I could take care of me
You always knew I actually how I felt
You always knew I was meant to be free

When all else fails you put your needs aside to ensure the well-being of your children
So when all else fails I will be forever grateful and honored to be your daughter
