WHEN I SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO PEOPLE

When I see what happens to people
How they lose themselves in their own lives
How they become nothing
Without even having done anything wrong
How they simply become the kind of burden to others
They above all did not want to be
When I see how people despite all their efforts
Wind up in kinds of living hell
When I see what has happened to so many people I know
I am filled with a kind of sadness and discouragement
I do not know how to assuage.
